5 Simple And Cheap Ways To Surprise Your Significant Other

5 simple and cheap ways to surprise your significant other overlayed over couple embracingThis post is by staff writer Cat Alford.

I don’t know about you, but I love receiving “the little things” in life from my other half.

For example, I’d rather a sweet note than a dozen roses or a thoughtful text instead of a new bracelet.

Time together is hard to come by due to my husband’s busy school schedule.

When he takes a moment to show that he cares, it really means the world to me.

This got me thinking about other ways that people can surprise their significant others.

It doesn’t have to be showy or expensive. It just has to show that you care.

Clean The Whole House

Oh, la la. Romantic, no? Anyone who has been together for a while will tell you that one of the nicest things you can do for your other half is completely clean the house.

Just imagine how nice it is for you to walk inside to a clean house with all the dishes put away and all your clothes hanging nicely in the closet.

The cost to do this is absolutely free, but they will remember it for days on end.

Make Them A Special Dinner

You probably make dinner from time to time during the week, so how can this be special? Well, if your other half has a certain meal that they like from childhood, you can call up their mom or grandmother and get the recipe.

Similarly, you can make a certain kind of cookie that they like or basically anything that requires a little bit of extra effort. They’ll love it, and it’ll just cost you a few groceries.

Surprise Them With An Already Planned Date

One of the most frustrating things about being with someone is agreeing on where you’re going to eat. Does this sound familiar: “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know. Where do you want to go?”

So, taking control of the situation and planning out a whole nice meal so the other person doesn’t have the think about it is a gift in itself.

Write Them A Love Note

Our days are often filled with fast paced e-mails. The whole concept of a written love note is completely foreign in today’s world. Taking the time to write out why you love your other half on paper is an amazing gift, since they can keep it for years to come.

Print Out Photos

Similar to writing love notes, we never print out photos anymore! We always say we’re going to but never get around to it. Take the time to put some of your best photos on a jump drive. Then drive to a drugstore and have them printed or print them out at home.

If you want, you can take it an extra step and actually put them in some new frames around your house. Do this without telling your significant other, and see how long it takes them to notice!

What are some other sweet and inexpensive ways that you can surprise your better half?

Thanks for tips! My mom is a big believer in the old school ways of communicating like hand written letters and always loved to cook special meals for special days. It makes a difference!

Definitely, especially since we're not used to it anymore.

This Valentine's Day is our 11th wedding anniversary, but my hubs is not here because he is currently assign to India for 22 days. So, I'm planning to print our old and new photos and I will just give it to him when he comes back.

My boyfriend takes me on little date nights - usually its just to the local burrito place then to see a movie, but I love that he still plans an actual date for us even though we've been dating so long.

My wife kidnapped me for a surprise weekend a few times! It is a small gesture and just makes you feel so special. One was for a birthday trip to San Francisco and my kids met us there. What a surprise!
