Three Ways to Earn Income Online

There are two sides to the normal budget issues.

People either don’t make enough money or spend too much money.

Today I’d like to focus on ways to grow your income.

In fact, I’m going to focus on a specific subset of growing your income.

Let’s look into three ways to grow your income online.

Start a Website

Starting a website is a great way to earn some extra income online.

It is important you have realistic expectations though. While websites can be a very profitable way to earn some extra income, it doesn’t come easy.

Starting a website is a lot easier today than it ever has been in the past. You could start a blog, an e-commerce website, or a website that solves a problem. You can earn extra income online by selling advertising or by selling your own products.

Regardless of which route you take, come up with a plan first.

Making the website is just the beginning. If you end up with a successful online business all of the hard work will be worth it in the end.

Sell on eBay or Craigslist

Another great way to earn income online is selling on eBay or Craigslist. The best thing about this method to earning extra income is you can likely get started with what you already have in your house!

Haven’t had a garage sale lately? Great news! I bet there is a ton of stuff in your house that you never use that could easily be sold to earn some extra income. Before you get started though keep the following in mind.

In order for something to sell on eBay or Craigslist there needs to be a market for it. Search for similar items that have sold recently to get an idea of whether or not it is worth it to try to sell and if you’d get enough money to part with your item.

The other thing to consider is that you must ship whatever you sell on eBay.

You’re probably better off selling smaller items that can be easily shipped on eBay and keeping the larger items that can’t be shipped as easily for future garage sales.

You won’t have the same problem if you decide to sell on Craigslist since you’ll likely meet your buyer locally to complete the transaction.

Freelance or Write for Blogs

Freelancing encompasses a large range of tasks and writing for blogs online is a very small subset of the category.

Freelancing could involve providing any type of service you have an expertise in. You can freelance with your accounting skills by providing bookkeeping for online businesses or you could freelance with your graphic designing skills by creating logos for websites.

The other method of freelancing that I previously mentioned was writing for blogs online. These days there are many blogs that hire staff or ghost writers to regularly provide content.

While writing for blogs may not be the best paying way to earn income online in the beginning, you can start charging more as your writing portfolio gets larger and your skills become more honed.

With a little luck and some hard work, your work could appear in a larger publication like a magazine or larger online news website.

If you want to get started freelance writing, I highly recommend Holly Johnson’s Earn More Writing course. You can check out my review of her course here.

There are a ton of ways to make money online. Just be careful what you get yourself into. There are scammers out there. Thoroughly investigate any and all opportunities before making the jump.

  1. I have done all three and am very impressed with the results. As with anything else you get out what you put in. I have spent a significant amount of time building my reputation and only now am I starting to see the benefits.

  2. I blog (of course!) and am about to start another online business 🙂

  3. These are all viable options for extra income, but are hard work. I am glad you prefaced these as not simple, but effective.

  4. My only venture right now is my blog, but I would love to sell a product. Who knows, it may just happen!

  5. I used to sell a lot on ebay….in fact, going to garage sales and selling on ebay was how I survived college financially! But now with the high fees they charge, along with the lack of protection for sellers, it’s not worth it anymore. I typically find items and sell them on Craigslist. It’s more work but I cut out the middle man and all of his fees.

  6. I make money off of one and two, but it took a lot of time and hard work to make either of those significant money making ventures. I’ve also tried the selling on ebay and craigslist and found the return wasn’t worth the effort.

  7. I started to work as a Virtual Assistant for almost 4 years now and I’m happy with the result. I still do stick on freelancing, for me, I haven’t tried to sell on Ebay, Craiglist and Amazon maybe I will try that in the future.

  8. Freelancing is my main income earner. I also run various web sites and earn money from advertising, but it’s still something I need to work on.
